During the race in Qatar, Lance Stroll was fined several times for violating the circuit’s boundaries – and after the finish he said he was dissatisfied with the actions of the stewards.
Lance Stroll: “I don’t know why we’re being fined. The stewards simply do not understand what modern Formula 1 is. They punish us if we go off track, then they limit these limits and say we can’t attack the curbs or the tires won’t last.
The problem with fines for violating highway limits needs to be resolved. We saw in Austria, we saw this weekend, how literally everyone is being punished for this. Riders gain no advantage by going three millimeters off the track. We simply don’t see them while driving 60 laps at a cockpit temperature of 65-70 degrees with g-forces ranging from 5 to 6.5 g.
I was upset. I attacked, did everything I could to have a good race, finished ninth, then two penalties dropped me to eleventh place – and I didn’t get any points for my work.”
