Mike Krak defends Lance Stroll

In qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Lance Stroll in the first session, the Canadian driver behaved uninhibited, throwing the steering wheel out of the car and roughly pushing Henry Howe, his coach and physiotherapist. Many criticized Stroll, but Aston Martin team boss Mike Krak defended his driver.

“When the results are below your expectations and they keep piling up, there is a moment of disappointment,” Racingnews365 quotes Mike Krack. – When a football player is removed from the game, he is not allowed to shake hands with the coach or throw a towel or water bottles – we see this often. I always try to wait to talk to the rider until his adrenaline has subsided.

I am sure that we experience 10-20 times less adrenaline on the command bridge than the drivers who have to go straight to the microphone after leaving the car. And everyone evaluates their response. Emotions are what we expect from athletes, and when they don’t respond as we expect, we judge them. But is this correct? You have to be careful with your assessment.

Some people like to sit on the couch in a well-conditioned room and reason, “A racer can’t behave like that.” I think we need to show world-class racers and athletes more respect.”
