The drivers had a difficult time during the Qatar Grand Prix. Due to the heat and dehydration, many complained of not feeling well, and Logan Sargent even quit the race. George Russell said many of his rivals admitted they were “on the verge of passing out”.
Former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger thinks it is not the heat, but a lack of preparation.
Gerhard Berger: “In our time everything was the same. It seems like the boys gave it their all this time, but this is a matter of physical preparation. If you are in excellent condition, there are no problems, just like Verstappen or Hamilton don’t have any. You must keep this factor in mind if you want to win.
This happened to me too, especially at the beginning of my career. In the hot race in Adelaide I had to slow down in the closing laps to avoid getting into a similar situation to the one we saw in Qatar. And I lost several positions. I often felt bad because I wasn’t in the right physical condition.”
