The Alpine team brought an updated underbody and aerodynamic body kit to the British Grand Prix. In the first training session, Fernando Alonso and Esteban Okon failed to work properly because of the rain, and in the second session they tested new products and evaluated their effectiveness.
Fernando Alonso (6th): “Today it was difficult for everyone in the first session because of the wet track – we drove a short distance. Only in the second training was it possible to work normally. I believe additional evaluation of new products at Silverstone is needed. We would like to spend a few more hours on the track, but all under equal conditions.
In the evening we have to work to get in top shape for the final practice and qualifying.
Esteban Ocon (13th): “It is always a pleasure to drive on the iconic track for the passionate fans who cheered us on all day long. In the first session we didn’t manage to work well because of the weather, but it’s nice that we were able to do a lot of laps during the day. At the end of the second session, we noticed a small tear in the body kit, so we chose to play it safe and not attack at full strength.
The team prepared several new products this weekend, so the speed of the car was crucial today. Once again I would like to thank everyone on base who worked hard to prepare updates for the home round. Preliminary data say the novelties are working and tomorrow we hope to get more speed out of the car.”
