Former Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz believes the FIA should regulate the temperature of parts the driver comes into contact with…
Alex Wurtz: “There are many factors to take into account. First of all, lessons from other series, where it has long been known that high temperatures are a limiting factor for riders.
For example, refrigerated seats work very well and are not that difficult to make and install. This is something every team needs to pay attention to.
Improve the insulation and air cooling of electrical components, which are often located near the seat, and reroute hot hydraulic lines so that the seat does not overheat. The technical regulations contain a series of restrictions on many parts of the car, and since the driver is part of this equation, it’s time to look at the conditions he finds himself in.
I recently tested the car with all the new protection on and was shocked at how warm I felt.”
