The Olympic Park in Sirius is freed from fences

One of the most popular places in Sirius, Medal Square with a fountain, will soon become more convenient and accessible for residents and guests of the federal territory. This will happen due to a change in circuit configuration. The track will operate in a small ring format and the unused areas around the Olympic Park will be freely accessible, with all fences removed. The work will be part of the major preparation of the federal territory for the World Youth Festival, which will take place in Sirius in March 2024.

“During the season, the Olympic Park is visited by up to 40,000 tourists every day. A unique show of singing fountains takes place every evening on Medalnaya Square; in sports facilities all-Russian and international competitions are held, as well as various concerts. This is a very popular and attractive area for visitors, but is now closed off around the perimeter by fences. That is why we decided to optimize logistics and restore the uniform space of the Olympic Park, as originally conceived by the designers on the eve of the 2014 Games. Residents and guests of the federal territory will have easy access to Medal Square, the Bolshoi Ice Palace and the Sirius Arena, which means that there will be even more walking routes and it will be more convenient to reach the iconic objects of the Olympic Park both on foot and by transport. At the same time, we maintain the functionality for holding motorsport competitions and even add new ones. The configuration of the route will make it a basis for the development of unmanned technologies and holding competitions between unmanned vehicles,” said Dmitry Plishkin, Head of the Administration of the Federal Territory of Sirius.

Due to the change in track configuration, the exits of the first turn and the twelfth turn close in a ring: now, after leaving the classic starting grid, the drivers will have a new view of the Sirius sports facilities and the new formed second bend. turn becomes available. Part of the road surface, which remains outside the renovated route, can be used for competitions in various sports – both amateur and professional, but also for walking and cycling. At the same time, the existing surface of the entire circuit remains untouched – the Autodrom retains the ability to quickly restore the original configuration of the circuit at any time in the event of the return of the Royal Races or their analogues to Sirius.

The updated track format allows the implementation of a new concept of racing and tourist services at the Autodrom. Guests who want to personally get a dose of adrenaline and feel real speed behind the wheel of powerful sports cars are offered special racing programs. Separate sections will be allocated for drifting and karting enthusiasts.

Visitors who prefer a more relaxing holiday can walk, rollerblade or cycle along the circuit, take a guide who will talk about the history of the Autodrom and show you the most interesting places, and visit the Nick Panuli Auto Museum, where legendary racing cars , pilot equipment and the only painting in the world made on carbon canvas.
