In Qatar, Alfa Romeo installed a number of aerodynamic innovations on the car and both drivers earned points. Valtteri Bottas believes that the team must also perform better in Austin.
Valtteri Bottas: “We have learned a lot about the new products, we are 100% satisfied with them and can now get the most out of them. Yes, the characteristics of the Qatar circuit suited our car, but we still looked better than in previous stages. Another circuit awaits us in Austin, but we have to perform better there too.
Unfortunately, due to the high air resistance, we are still the slowest on the straights, so we still have some work to do. For us, every point, every position counts in the constructors’ championship. I’m happy we beat Haas in Qatar, although in some ways we were lucky that Lewis retired and Sainz didn’t start, otherwise it would have been difficult to finish eighth. Sometimes you need luck, but we did well. Zhou started last, had a great race and finished 10th.”
