AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer said the Italian team has defined its ‘identity’ for the 2024 season and would be closer to Red Bull Racing.
Peter Bayer: “The discussion about the future of the team is being productive, but unfortunately I cannot reveal yet what name the team will have. Our shareholders have already decided on the identity of the team, we will become closer to the Red Bull family.”
Speaking about Franz Tost, who will step down as head of AlphaTauri at the end of this year, Peter Bayer said: “Franz is an incredible mentor. He has so much experience that he can give advice and support me in any situation.
I spend a lot of time with him, so recently I even said to him, “I hope I’m not too annoying because I spend so much time with you.” Franz answered me: “No, no. I want you and the team to succeed, and to do that I must pass on everything I know.”
Franz is a genius when it comes to working with racers. He understands their physical and mental state and constantly tells me that riders need to be at the peak of their physical fitness. But at the same time it is important to make sure that when they move from Formula 2 to Formula 1, they need support. Physical and mental preparation and simulator work are very important.”
