At the Qatar Grand Prix, Lance Stroll attracted attention not with his success on the track, but with his uninhibited behavior off it. During qualifying, the Aston Martin driver, frustrated at not being able to qualify for Q2, threw the wheel out of the car and roughly pushed his coach and physiotherapist Henry Howe away.
The action did not go unnoticed by the governing body and today the FIA released a short statement saying Lance has been given a written warning and apologized for his action.
“We can confirm that the FIA Legal Officer has received an apology from Lance Stroll for his actions during the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix,” the FIA said in a statement. – The FIA Legal Officer accepted the apology and issued a written warning, reminding Lance of his responsibilities as a competitor to adhere to the FIA Code of Ethics and other FIA principles of ethics and conduct as set out in the Sporting Rules .
The FIA has a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and condemns any action that could lead to physical intimidation.”
