Kevin Magnussen: New products will help prepare for 2024

The Haas team will bring a refreshed car to the home round in Austin. Kevin Magnussen spoke about the progress he expects from technical innovations this weekend.

Q: What makes the American stage special to you?
Kevin Magnussen: The COTA course was originally our first home course. I had a good race last year and the stage itself was one of my favorites of the season. Real Formula 1 fans come to the stands and this is a truly large-scale event. Since we are an American team, we have many American sponsors, including the title sponsor. Naturally, we expect to perform well.

Q: What do you expect from the new products the team has prepared for the stage in Austin?
Kevin Magnussen: I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping for a serious speed increase. The second reason for the release of new products is to prepare for next year. Everyone on the team hopes that the new features will improve the car, but the main goal is to learn and gain information that will be useful when working on next year’s car.

I think it’s no secret that our car is fast under very specific conditions. The range is very narrow and we need to extend it to make the car more effective on different types of tracks and in different weather conditions. I hope the new products will make it easier to chase rivals and be more careful with tires.

Q: What do you like about the US, and what would you like to do in this country?
Kevin Magnussen: I want to do a lot. I love nature so I want to visit some amazing national parks. I like that the US is a big country. There isn’t much space in Denmark, so everything is close by, but when you drive through America, you feel like you’re on another planet. I enjoy my time in the United States and have many fond memories of work and family vacations.
