In Silverstone qualifying, Sebastian Vettel was only 18th and Lance Stroll 20th – these are the worst results for Aston Martin drivers in the season.
Sebastian Vettel (18th): “This result on Saturday makes it very difficult to fight on Sunday, but all we can do now is forget what happened and prepare for the race.
We lacked pace in qualifying, but we know we can do better. We need to draw conclusions, understand where we are inferior and achieve more next time.”
Lance Walk (20th): “At the end of the session we put in a new set of intermediate tires but on the lap out of the pits I got into traffic and couldn’t warm them up to show a decent time.
I’m disappointed to start at the back of the pack, but I hope the weather will improve and we will do better in the race.”
Mike Krak, team leader: “We didn’t succeed today. The rain has complicated the situation, but the conditions are the same for everyone.
We are disappointed to have qualified only 18th and 20th in the home Grand Prix, especially given the hard work the team has put in to produce many aerodynamic innovations in a short period of time. Tomorrow it will be difficult to earn points, but we will do our best.”
