James Key: We hope both riders earn points

According to the results of qualifying at Silverstone, only Lando Norris of the McLaren drivers will start from a relatively good position, while Daniel Ricciardo was unable to rise above the seventh row. But the team hopes they can both finish in the top ten with the car.

Lando Norris (6th): “I am very satisfied. The 6th position is the maximum one could count on today. Admittedly, I can say that I didn’t drive my last lap in the best way, but I still liked the result, the team did a good job.

I did well too – also because I got to the track just when I needed it, and we were faster than ours. This is a good starting position and I hope I can keep it during the race.”

Daniel Riccardo (14th): “Obviously the results of qualifying upset me. If I remember her events, I think it was necessary to leave for your circle earlier, when the surface condition was even better. But when it was necessary to show a good time, I already had problems.

It looked like I managed to find a more or less dry stretch on that lap, but there was a part of the track where there was water and the lap was ruined.

But the biggest problem is that I didn’t get on track when the conditions were better, and that hindered me more than any other factor. So it’s his own fault. Because of this, we start from a fairly distant line, so tomorrow there is a lot of work, but we have a fighting spirit.

James Key, technical director: “Silverstone suits our car better than a few previous tracks, and it’s nice to see that we’re more or less confident so far. Last night we were mainly looking for fine-tuning and after the 3rd practice, which took place on dry road, this work continued, although we also took into account the high probability that qualifying will be held in the rain.

Lando and his team did a great job, although the conditions were very difficult, and tomorrow he will start the race from the third row. Daniel was a victim of the conditions and the changing condition of the track in the second qualifying session. The rain increased, the speeds decreased and basically the balance of power remained the same as it was at an earlier stage of the session.

I have no doubt that Daniel could have risen much higher if conditions had remained stable. It’s a shame, but we know we can fight for points. There are good chances for that as some of our direct rivals are starting around him so we are optimistic. We hope that we can fully exploit the potential of the machine and that both riders will finish in the top ten.
