Tito Amato on the characteristics of the Austin circuit…

In an interview with the Ferrari press office, team engineer Tito Amato spoke about the characteristics of the Austin circuit…

Question: Tito, describe the features of the Austin circuit?
Tito Amato: The track configuration includes different types of turns, from slow – 70-80 km/h, to high speed – about 270 km/h. There are only two straight lines, both with DRS zones, and the main one is quite short: about 500 meters.

In terms of aerodynamic configuration, the Austin requires medium to high downforce. Engineers and drivers must find a compromise that allows them to quickly navigate both the fast corners in the former segment and the slow corners in the latter.

The dynamics of acceleration when exiting slow and medium corners are especially important, with sufficient stability on high-speed sections.

Question: How does the weekend format with a Saturday sprint, including only one training session, affect the work schedule?
Tito Amato: Because there is only one training session, preparation beforehand is particularly important, as you simply don’t have time to make major changes to the settings on the track.

The focus of our single practice session will be on the performance of the tires, especially the Medium and Soft compounds, in order to plan their use in Saturday’s sprint and Sunday’s Grand Prix.
