Raikkonen bought a villa in Italy and will live in Como

Kimi Raikkonen and his family lived in Switzerland for many years, but have now decided to move to Italy, where his son will have more favorable conditions for karting.

We’ve told you repeatedly that 8-year-old Robin Raikkonen, competing in the Junior Challenge Rotax series, is already showing signs of racing talent, showing consistent results and rising to the podium. Apparently, the family council decided to take the next step and take the boy’s career seriously.

The 2007 world champion bought two properties in northern Italy, in Lombardy, in the province of Como. As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, citing local authorities, the Raikkonen family chose not to settle on the coast of the famous Lake Como, but some distance from it.

The choice is quite logical, because from the north of Lombardy it is very convenient to reach most of the international karting tracks in this part of Italy. For example, the famous Lonato del Garda circuit is only 150 km away. By the way, Robin Raikkonen races karts produced by the Italian company CRG – both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen once worked with them.

Kimi has become the new owner of a luxury villa called Il Torchio, located in a very picturesque location near the Spina Verde park. Interestingly enough, the word ‘torchio’ means ‘wine press’.

Work on the repair and reconstruction of the villa has already begun and during this period Raikkonen and his family will live elsewhere – in a spacious apartment in the historic center of Como.
