Leclerc: I hope we will be closer to our rivals in Austin

In the final stage in Qatar, the Ferrari team lost not only to the leaders of Red Bull Racing, but also to rivals from McLaren and Mercedes. In Austin, Charles Leclerc explained the gap by saying the Losail circuit was not the car’s suit and expressed hope that the Scuderia would be closer to its rivals this weekend.

Charles Leclerc: “I hope we will be closer to our rivals this weekend. In theory, the track in Qatar was one of the worst for us, taking into account not only the weather conditions but also the characteristics of the track itself.

Despite the above, it is important to remember that the course of the sprint weekend is largely influenced by how productively we manage to spend Friday training, as after this session we will no longer be able to change the car settings. So our priority is to be strong during tomorrow’s training and get the settings right. We know this will be a crucial session for the entire weekend.

Of course, confidence in the car is important in fast corners. In several previous races we lacked speed in slow and medium-fast corners, so this weekend we will focus on finding settings for these types of corners.”
