The final stage in Qatar was Alfa Romeo’s best of the season as the team achieved six points and took eighth place in the Constructors’ Championship. In Austin, Valtteri Bottas said such a result was necessary to increase team spirit.
Valtteri Bottas: “We really needed these points because they cheered up everyone in the team. If there are a lot of races in which you don’t earn points, this obviously starts to erode confidence a bit.
You start thinking, “Can I do this?” And now we have proven: “Yes, we can earn points if we do everything right.” There is a much better atmosphere in the team now and I hope we will have a better end to the season.
It is difficult to predict what the outcome will be this weekend, as the gaps are minimal. But at least we now understand the new products much better and have even brought a few more updates to this stage. We will soon know what we are capable of.”
