Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda set the 11th and 13th fastest times in qualifying for the British Grand Prix. AlphaTauri admitted that the results more or less match the speed of the car.
Pierre Gasly (11th): “The training is especially tough this weekend. Even before the start of the stage we knew that we would have problems on this track. We didn’t manage to find a solution, but qualifying went well – we can be happy with 11th place.
Of course the team cannot be satisfied with this result, because we want more, but the result reflects the car’s capabilities on this type of track.
Tonight I’m going to dance the rain-making dance. We have no choice but to hope that the race will be held on a wet track.”
Yuki Tsunoda (13th): “Based on the pace in practice, we knew it wouldn’t be easy to get to the second part of qualifying, so I accept today’s result. The track conditions were difficult, but the team did a great job and I’m glad we did. A positive result considering how the weekend went.
I hope there will be no rain in the race as my car is set up on a dry track. I hope we put all the ingredients together and earn points. I’m looking forward to the race – it’s going to be a tough fight, but I think we’ll have opportunities.”
