Formula E: A new ERT team is created based on NIO 333

For seven seasons, the Chinese team NIO 333 competed in Formula E, changing its name several times during that time. Initially it was called China Racing, then NEXTEV TCR, and since 2018 it participates in the electric series as NIO and receives factory status, because a whole family of electric vehicles is produced in China under this brand.

Now, however, the Chinese company has decided to phase out its Formula E program and the former factory team is once again changing its name, and with it its status. The ERT Formula E team is now independent and not affiliated with any car manufacturer. However, the car is still based at Silverstone and will continue to be driven next year by Briton Dan Ticktum and Brazilian driver Sergio Sette Camara.

At the official Formula E tests in Valencia they are already driving cars painted in new colors. As far as the ERT logo can be judged, the color scheme will be dominated by shades of gray, but with elements of yellow.

The Chinese team, based in Britain, insists that unlike other EV World Championship participants, ERT will be the only team not linked to established car manufacturers in 2024. At the same time, bold statements are being made that it plans to independently produce electric motors and transmissions and develop software. But for now, these will likely be last year’s NIO-produced ones, or their modifications.

It is expected that on Monday, October 23 at the Spanish Ricardo Tormo circuit, before the start of testing, the ERT Formula E team will make an official presentation.
