Now racing drivers will be fined a tidy sum, four times higher than before, in case of offence.
The International Automobile Federation has four times the maximum fine for Formula 1 drivers.
Corresponding changes were made to the International Sports Code after the meeting of the World Motor Sports Council in Geneva.
According to the FIA’s official website, previously the maximum fine that stewards could impose on drivers was 250 thousand euros. This value has not been reviewed or changed in the last twelve years and does not correspond to the current realities of motorsport. In this regard, the FIA approved a new maximum fine in Formula 1, which will be 1 million euros.
For other championships under the auspices of the FIA, such as WRC, World Cross-Country Rally Championship, WEC, World Rallycross Championship and Formula E, the maximum fine is 750 thousand euros, and for other series – 500,000 euros.
We remind you that the former chairman of Formula 1 received a large fine and a suspended 17-month prison term.
