Lando Norris holds his 100th Grand Prix in Austin and yesterday he showed for the second time in qualifying. McLaren team boss Zak Brown spoke about his driver’s progress…
Zak Brown: “Lando has become much more experienced over the past five seasons and makes fewer mistakes, although he rarely made mistakes back then. Norris is one of the fastest drivers in Formula 1. In terms of racing skills, he is unparalleled. We give him a car that will allow him to reach the podium more and more often. And we continue to develop, because our sport never stands still.
Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to provide him with a car that can win. Like other drivers, he gets upset when he realizes he hasn’t reached his maximum. This was the case in Qatar, where he made some unusual mistakes by driving off the track, but he was not the only one to be fined. When Lando feels like he’s done something wrong, he gets a little irritated, but quickly comes to his senses.
He and Oscar put pressure on each other – it’s good for them and for the team. It is important that this pressure does not lead to accidents, as with some other teams, they both learn from that. We have a fantastic line-up of drivers.”
