Lewis Hamilton showed the third fastest time during qualifying in Austin and thanked the team for the new products they had prepared…
Lewis Hamilton (3rd): “I love competing in the United States, I love this circuit. One of my favorites – along with Silverstone. This is a legendary circuit, bumpy and incredibly difficult in every section.
I am grateful to all the employees at our base. They have done everything they can to make our car more competitive, and this weekend we moved one step closer to the leaders. Unfortunately, they still have a small lead, but tomorrow we will try again.”
George Russel (5th): “It turned out to be a difficult day. I didn’t have enough speed and I don’t know why yet. But I liked the new items prepared by the team and allowed me to improve.
It was a bit of a strange day for me, so I’m happy with fifth place. At times it looked like I wouldn’t make it to the final.
I take this result positively and move on. Usually qualifying for the sprint goes better for me than Friday, with the exception of Qatar. Let’s see how it goes this time.”
