Mohammed bin Sulayem has repeatedly said that he is open to constructive criticism and that all riders have his telephone number. In a new interview with Spanish publication AS, the FIA president said that Fernando Alonso is taking advantage of this opportunity and often calls him and swears when he is dissatisfied with something in Formula 1.
Mohammed bin Sulayem: “Fernando is a real example for young drivers. He drove in Formula 1, then left, came back and is performing as strongly as ever, even though it is very difficult, especially in Formula 1.
Fernando is not only a champion, he is also a smart person. I’m not saying others aren’t smart, but Fernando is a real intellectual, which is good for the sport. When he is dissatisfied with something, he calls me: “Boss! The president!” And swears with swear words.
We are all racers and I understand his disappointment. Fernando is very good at the sport, he has interesting ideas and he is very important for Formula 1. Alonso not only has speed and the ability to lead a team, he is also an indisputable authority.”
