Sargent: It’s good that there is a sprint in the weekend program

Logan Sargent understands that a difficult weekend awaits him and the team in Austin because Williams is no longer upgrading the car, although its rivals continue to do so. However, he hopes that his home Grand Prix will go well.

Logan Sargent: “Of course I’m looking forward to the American Grand Prix, my second home race of the season. I have good memories of this circuit, because in 2021 it was announced in Austin that I had been admitted to the Williams Racing Academy and last year I had my first practice session in Formula 1 at this circuit.

And overall, this is the very first US track I’ve ever competed in, so I’m really happy to be back here. Even better, the weekend program includes a sprint, as this will help you adapt to the track.

It’s quite difficult, especially the first sector, but what I remembered last year will be useful to me. But I didn’t know the track in Qatar, but I got to know it more or less normally in one training session. But our team may experience problems because other teams continue to modernize their cars, unlike Williams. Our car remains as it was, but at the same time we devote all our attention to preparing for next year.

As always, it is important this weekend to try to be in the right place at the right time and avoid problems. This is how we understand our tasks, although before we start training it is difficult to say what our car is capable of in Austin. But I have no doubt that it will not be easy for us, as always.

Obviously we will do everything we can to earn points, especially because this weekend we have two qualifying sessions and two races and this gives us twice as many chances to show a good result. I believe we can do this.

However, it is hot in Texas now, temperatures are expected to be around 30 degrees all day, so physical activity may be similar to what it was in Qatar. Although I don’t think there will be any problems here, I have never experienced such painful sensations in America as in Qatar. The situation there was of course not ideal…”
