The British Mercedes driver, seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, as well as the Monegasque Charles Leclerc, who drives for Ferrari, were disqualified. Their cars failed to pass technical inspection after the finish of the race. FIA delegate Joe Bauer found that the cars had protective boards underneath that did not comply with regulations.
Hamilton was deprived of the podium for this reason, as he finished in second place in Texas. Leclerc was initially sixth on the protocol. Thus, McLaren driver Lando Norris became the silver medalist of the United States Grand Prix, and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz finished third. Well, the winner of the race was the Dutch three-time world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull.
