Qualification

After winning qualifying in Austin, Charles Leclerc won the 21st pole of his career and the third of the season. In terms of number of pole positions, Charles is the best among the drivers who did not win a championship title.

Leclerc is the fifth pole winner of the last five Grand Prix in Austin.

Lando Norris qualified second for the third time this season.

Lewis Hamilton qualified third, ahead of his teammate, and now Hamilton and Russell have a 9:9 draw.

Carlos Sainz qualified fourth and lost to his teammate in the third Grand Prix in a row.

After a fast lap was canceled due to exceeding the track limits, Max Verstappen finished only sixth. From this position he won the race at Spa.

Seventh place is Pierre Gasly’s best starting position in Austin. At this circuit he was never ahead of his teammate in qualifying.

Esteban Ocon qualified eighth – the first time since 2013 that both Renault/Alpine cars have qualified for the final qualifying round in Austin.

Guanyu Zhou’s twelfth place is his best qualifying result since fifth place in Hungary.

For the first time after the summer break (six races), Zhou was ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas.

Fernando Alonso qualified 17th and broke a successful streak – previously in every Grand Prix this season he qualified for the qualifying final.

Race

After winning the American Grand Prix, Max Verstappen took his 15th victory of the season and the 50th of his career. Max was one of five drivers to win fifty or more Grands Prix in his career, along with Hamilton, Schumacher, Vettel and Prost.

After winning the 15th race of the season, Verstappen repeated his record from last year.

Verstappen broke his previous record for most points in a season. In 2022 he earned 454 points, and now he already has 466.

Lando Norris’ second place allowed McLaren to move up to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, ahead of Aston Martin. This is Norris’ fourth podium finish in a row.

Third place is Carlos Sainz’s best result in Austin.

In the final protocol, Sergio Perez finished fourth, placing him in the top four for the first time since Monza.

Pierre Gasly and Lance Stroll scored points for the first time in Austin.

Yuki Tsunoda’s eighth place is his best result of the season.

Yuki became the 138th driver in history to set the fastest race lap, and the third Japanese after Satoru Nakajima in Australia ’89 and Kamui Kobayashi in China ‘2012.

Logan Sargent’s tenth place earned him the first point of his Formula 1 career. The American became the 150th Formula 1 driver to achieve at least one point, while Leila Lombardi finished with half a point in 151st and last place.

Sargent’s point is the 999th for American drivers in Formula 1.
