During the race in Austin, Alex Albon was the only one to receive a five-second time penalty for a violation, but at that time he was only aware of one violation.
Then came three consecutive fouls in the sixth turn, for which there were no warnings – there were four in total, which were immediately followed by a five-second penalty. Alex believes this should not be the case.
Alex Albon: “I was upset. I knew about a single violation, and then I committed three at once – and was immediately fined.
Such delays are unacceptable. On the track you cannot see whether you have committed a violation. They don’t warn you and then immediately fine you. I think this is unfair.
If some of their systems aren’t working fast enough, maybe they should admit it and just give us more freedom to act. This decision ruined my race.”
