Dave Robson: In Austria we will continue to work with new products

Williams prepared many new products for the home stage, but again did not earn any points. Nicholas Latifi finished 12th in the old car and Alex Albon dropped out on the first lap in the updated car, was taken to hospital, but by the evening he had already been discharged.

Dave Robson, chief engineer: “We are pleased that no one was injured in a serious incident at the start of the race. Unfortunately, Alex dropped out on lap one – we were unable to evaluate the effectiveness of the new products we had prepared in the race.

Nicholas confirmed his good performance in qualifying with a high speed in the race, taking every opportunity that presented itself, including the safety car. Unfortunately at the end of the race he didn’t have enough pace to stay in the top ten.

We are going to repair Alex’s car and go to Austria, where we will continue to work on new products. The track at Spielberg has similar characteristics to Silverstone, the weather will also be similar, so we will continue what we started this weekend. †

Nicholas Latific (12th): “From the first laps there were difficulties. At first I was surprised that I could keep up with the cars in front of me, but I was driving in a group of cars with DRS, which canceled out the speed difference even though the cars behind me were much faster. It was fun to fight in a group.

Unfortunately I didn’t have enough speed at the end of the race, we lost momentum in fast corners, which was not helped by damage to the bottom. I’m disappointed with the result, but overall the weekend was positive.”

Alex Albon (retirement): “I am very happy that all participants in the first round incident are okay. Thanks to the medical staff on the track and at Coventry Hospital. It’s a shame the race ended for me before it started, but I’m already fully focused on Austria. The next step is obvious.”
