In Austin, Esteban Ocon withdrew from the race due to the consequences of a crash on the first lap, but he hopes to make up for this in Mexico City…
Q: How do you rate the results from the weekend in Austin?
Esteban Ocon: Unfortunately I couldn’t finish the race. I started confidently, gaining several places on the climb to the first corner, where contact occurred, leading to damage to the left pontoon and underside. Actually, it all ended there.
This season I lost a lot of points due to several retirements. We must regroup and get back into the fight in Mexico. I’m looking forward to the start of the weekend.
Q: What can you say about the Rodriguez Brothers Autodrome?
Esteban Ocon: Since its return to the calendar, this stage has become quite popular. Mexico City has fantastic fans and an incredible atmosphere, and driving through a packed stadium is an amazing experience.
In general I love Mexico, it is a beautiful country, when you arrive on stage you immediately feel like you are on holiday. This track is a joy to race on, and the high altitude changes the feel of the car. Thin air reduces traction and makes racing more physically demanding. But we are ready for this challenge and hope for a good result.
Q: What are your goals for the rest of the season?
Esteban Ocon: This season did not go smoothly for our team, there were ups and downs, but in the end we were not able to achieve the ambitious goals we set ourselves at the beginning of this year. However, we are fully focused on the work, on finishing the season on a good note.
Our team is able to earn points in all remaining races, that will be our goal. We will work hard to achieve a good result.
