New Zealand Jaguar driver Mitch Evans was fastest during the ongoing test in Valencia, where Formula E teams are preparing for the tenth season of the electric series.
Just like on Tuesday, Mitch topped the protocol by completing a lap around the Ricardo Tormo circuit in 1 minute at the end of the day. 24.791 seconds. True, he had to interrupt his work on the track before the official end of the session: his electric Jaguar racing car stopped on the track due to a technical fault.
The second fastest time, just 0.23 seconds behind Evans, was achieved by Porsche driver Antonio Felix da Costa, although he took to the track just an hour before the end of the 4.5-hour session. And before that, his car was driven by Czech racer Gabriela Zhilkova, a Formula E debutant, and he managed 46 laps.
The third time of the day was left to Edorado Mortara, the Mahindra pilot, who incidentally occupied the first line of the protocol for a long time until Evans moved him from there. The result is all the more worthy of respect as the Indian team’s equipment was damaged during a fire at the track on Tuesday. Going by Mahindra Racing’s statement, one of the cars was defective, so Mortara was the only one working on the track today.
The fourth result was shown by Robin Frijns, who switched teams and quickly adapted to the Envision Racing car, and Pascal Wehrlein, teammate of da Costa in the factory Porsche team, completed the top five.
It is worth noting that the first result of the 19th, shown by Sacha Fenestraz, a Nissan driver, is less than six-tenths apart, i.e. almost all show similar speeds.
The tests will continue tomorrow morning and if there was only one session today, the day’s program on Friday will consist of two full sessions. The highway work will begin at 8:30 a.m. local time and end at 6:30 p.m.
