Oscar Piastri: I have a lot to learn in Mexico City

Oscar Piastri has never competed in the Mexican Rodriguez Brothers Circuit before and is not sure whether this suits the McLaren car, but would rather not jump to conclusions.

Oscar Piastri: “After the US Grand Prix I spent a few days in New York, where I met business partners and investors from our team, and it was interesting. As you know, many McLaren partners are based abroad.

But the American weekend was not easy for me. It took longer than I would have liked to get the speed I needed. But in my opinion it gradually got better as the weekend went on and on Sunday everything went fine. I had a good start in the Grand Prix, but unfortunately had to retire afterwards. However, it is during these weekends that you learn the most and try to prepare for the next races.

I haven’t had the chance to race at the Mexican circuit yet, but it doesn’t seem to suit our car that well, although in Austin everything was probably a little better in terms of speed than we expected. This is my first time in Mexico City and the circuit here is of a completely different type, so there is a lot to learn.

But I still hope we can compete with the teams in front of us.”
