Esteban Ocon missed the finish in Austin after colliding with Oscar Piastri on the first lap. For the Alpine driver, that retirement was the sixth of the season, and in Mexico Esteban spoke about the points lost in recent races.
Esteban Ocon: “Of course I am disappointed with this outcome. This season I’ve had a few retirements that were worth the points lost, but that’s what happens sometimes in motorsport. In such a situation it is important to stay focused on the right things. I hope this weekend goes better for us.
Without the collision with Oscar I could have scored a lot of points. Given the several disqualifications after the finish, we had good chances. Overall the weekend in Austin went well, but it just didn’t work out in our favor.
Last year the team performed strongly in Mexico City, I earned points and in 2017 I even fought for a place on the podium. I love this circuit and we are looking forward to a successful weekend.”
