Carlos Sainz’s contract with Ferrari expires at the end of 2024. The Spanish racer has repeatedly said he wants to decide his future career plans in the coming off-season. Before the stage in Mexico City, Carlos made it clear that he was counting on an extension of his contract with the Scuderia.
“I feel comfortable in the team,” Racingnews365 quotes Sainz. “I am happy at Ferrari and I believe in the team because I see that the right steps are being taken. I see a team ready to work in the right direction.
I have always said that the coming winter will be an excellent opportunity to discuss future plans with the team. Let’s see if we can agree on the future. If they are happy with my work and I am happy with the team, then there shouldn’t be a big problem. I hope we will agree on everything in the winter. If this is not the case, resolution of the problem may be delayed. Let’s see”.
Reviewing the final season, Carlos said: “Overall the year turned out to be decent. From the start of the season I felt comfortable in the car. In the first races we tried to understand what positions we were in and why we were suddenly half a second behind Red Bull on some circuits, while on others we were fighting for pole.
The first half of the season was worse than expected, but we didn’t give up and kept working. When the opportunity arose, we took advantage of it, just like in Singapore. I think the success this year meant a lot to us.”
