The McLaren drivers ended the second training session for the Mexico City Grand Prix in the top ten: Lando Norris set the second fastest time, Oscar Piastri the ninth. Both were positive about Friday’s sessions and added that the car has the potential to improve on Saturday.
Lando Norris (2nd): “Good start to the weekend and the gaps are minimal. We will continue to work on improving, but it is a good start.
We always have an idea of where we need to work on the car, so usually the final settings don’t differ much from the initial settings, which means we don’t get to play as much over the course of the weekend. However, there are always little things that can be improved, but we have started well and can continue like this.”
Oscar Piastri (9th): “Good first day in Mexico City. This track has little grip, so it took some getting used to, but it’s great. I feel like I got better throughout the day, and the second workout went well. There are still some areas where we need to improve on Saturday, but the car looks quite fast.”
Andrea Stella, team leader: “Productive first day in Mexico City. We had no problems in either session, so we could easily get started with the settings, tires and cooling. Overall, the pace looks promising.
We will continue to do our best and adapt to the track conditions. I hope that we can guarantee ourselves a high starting position.”
