Lando Norris starts the Mexican Grand Prix from an unusually distant position, but partly he was unlucky in the first part of qualifying, partly he made a mistake on his only attempt. And Oscar Piastri, although he reached the final, is dissatisfied with his seventh result.
Oscar Piastri (7th): “I think we had a good pace, but only until the third part of qualifying. For some reason it just didn’t work out in the last session, and I don’t even understand why. I think that’s what upsets me the most right now.
We will analyze everything and try to understand what could have been done differently, and it is possible that it was necessary to adjust the machine settings somehow. But it seems like we just couldn’t improve, while everyone else did.
If we talk about tomorrow’s race, all the cars we will be surrounded by will go fast, and it will not be easy to overtake them, but we will do our best.”
Lando Norris (19th): “On my only lap I locked the brakes and on the first attempt we had problems. And during the latter, yellow flags appeared on the track due to a U-turn by Fernando Alonso. Of course it’s a shame that this happened and I missed my only chance by blocking the brakes.
From the position from which I start the race, it is difficult to roll back, especially because our car can run at a high pace. Oscar is doing well, but if I could do a normal lap I would actually be fighting for pole. But now I can only talk about this in the subjunctive mood.
Of course, we can only regret that everything turned out this way, but tomorrow we will try to fight for the points and see what we can do.”
