Pirelli considers the optimal strategy of one pit stop in today’s race…
Mario Isola, Pirelli: “Qualifying brought many surprises, which promises a spectacular race. As has happened more than once this year, the battle in qualifying proved fierce: the top three places were within less than a tenth of each other, and the top ten passed within a second.
Compared to last year, the riders rode more than six-tenths faster, which corresponds to the characteristics of the Soft tires used in 2022.
We expect the one-stop strategy to become the most popular strategy in the coming race. In this case, two options are possible: start at C4 and move to C3 after about a third of the distance, or start at C3 and extend the first segment up to two-thirds of the distance. The two-stop option is possible using C3 and C4 connections, but is not as fast as the one-stop strategy.”
