The Alpine drivers only achieved one point in Mexico City, thanks to Esteban Ocon’s 10th place…
Esteban Ocon (10th): “A difficult weekend ended quite positively in a stubborn battle for a place in the top ten. On the radio after the race I said: “Never give up”, and that was exactly the case today.
Thanks to the team for a good race in which a lot happened from start to finish. We didn’t have a very good start, we lost a few places and I finished in last place. The first half of the race was difficult, but we took risks with our strategy, which helped a lot. At the restart I gained a few places and eventually finished 10th, which earned a well-deserved point.”
Pierre Gasly (11th): “Tough day. It’s a shame to miss the opportunity to earn points. We did everything we could, but the safety car came out at a very inopportune time.
I’m glad Magnussen is doing well; the accident was serious. I’m looking forward to completing the series of three Grands Prix in Brazil next weekend. It will be held with the Saturday sprint, more points will be awarded, I look back with pleasure on my podium place in 2019.”
