In the rain qualifying at Silverstone, the Haas F1 racers couldn’t take anything against their rivals and already fell out of the fray in the first session…
Kevin Magnussen (17th): “It was not without problems in the morning of the third practice, but I knew what the car was capable of and I was optimistic. Then it started to rain, which increased my confidence even more, but for some reason the car didn’t have enough speed on a wet track.
This year we have been fast a few times in the rain, but on tracks with a very different configuration. We will draw conclusions and tomorrow we will try to break into the top ten.
Mick Schumacher (19th): “Unfortunately I had problems with the car – something with the steering, which is especially unpleasant in mixed conditions. We will deal with what happened and prevent to achieve more.
In the race I am ready for all conditions, whether it will be on a dry or wet track, it will still be fun. I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Gunther Steiner, team leader: “Not the best day. In the third practice, Mick did well, but Kevin couldn’t find the optimal balance. In the rain qualifying there was severe understeer, which quickly wore out the left front tire. We just couldn’t get the car going, so both drivers went on strike in the first session.
On Mick’s car, the steering wheel was constantly turned about 10 degrees, which made it even harder for him to qualify. We will try to do better tomorrow.”
