Christian Horner on Perez’s retirement and Ricciardo’s success…

The head of Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner, summarized the results of the race in Mexico City…

Christian Horner: “I am very angry about Sergio’s crash in the first corner. This was perhaps his best start of the season. He found himself in an air pocket of three cars at the same time and entered the corner at enormous speed. You can’t blame him for wanting to take the lead on his home circuit. It was a racing incident; three people could not enter the bend.

For Sergio and his fans, this meeting was insulting and unpleasant. The mechanics did everything they could to get it back on track, but the car was too badly damaged.

Sergio was very emotional about this retirement, but I told him that next week there is a race in Brazil where he will be able to fight for victory again in front of his fans.

I am very satisfied with Ricciardo’s performance. It’s great to see him perform so well and that’s why we brought him back to AlphaTauri.

He was fantastic this weekend against Mercedes in the AlphaTauri and without the red flag he would have finished higher. Good performance. This weekend we saw old Daniel. He is calm, confident and very motivated.”
