Nico Hulkenberg remembers his pole position from 2010

Nico Hulkenberg has only one pole position in Formula 1, won in Brazil in 2010. On the eve of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, the Haas driver recalled that qualification at the request of the press service.

Question: You took pole position at Interlagos 13 years ago. What do you remember about that qualification?
Nico Hulkenberg: I remember almost everything! The track conditions were difficult: the track was wet, but gradually dried out. In my opinion, we competed on intermediate tires and in the final we installed slicks – a perfect hit, which allowed us to achieve the result.

Interlagos has a great song, I love the rhythm, location and energy of Sao Paulo.

Question: The last sprint stage of the season is just around the corner. Is there anything you would like to change about this weekend format for next year?
Nico Hulkenberg: This format differs from the usual format. Weekends are more intense for drivers and teams. There’s a lot to prepare for in a one-hour workout, so I doubt we’ll like this format. However, for fans and television viewers, this format is more interesting, as an important session takes place on Friday evening.

Question: How difficult is it to stay in good physical condition in such a busy season?
Nico Hulkenberg: I believe that by the end of the season we will be in better shape, because we have already spent a lot of time behind the wheel – the body and muscles have already gotten used to the load compared to the condition at the beginning of the season .

We are constantly concentrated, gaining rhythm and between races we have enough time for the body to regain its shape. It’s much easier now than it was at the beginning of the season.
