Kevin Magnussen crashed his car in Mexico City due to a broken rear suspension. Before the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, the Haas driver tried not to remember the events of the last race and talked more about the upcoming stage.
Question: A year ago in Sao Paulo you started from pole in the sprint. After all this time, does that result still give you motivation and remind you that anything is possible in Formula 1?
Kevin Magnussen: Last year’s pole was a fantastic moment for me and the team, but in Formula 1 everything changes quickly, so we are focused on the results we want to achieve. Currently the team is in a very different situation.
In any case, it is nice to be back in Sao Paulo on the classic circuit. And the memories of last year are simply pleasant.
Question: The last sprint stage of the season is just around the corner. Is there anything you would like to change about this weekend format for next year?
Kevin Magnussen: I’ve often said that I love sprinting. A shorter race is more exciting for the driver. In this format, the results from four of the weekend’s five sessions matter, which is more exciting.
Question: How difficult is it to stay in good physical condition in such a busy season?
Kevin Magnussen: During the away triple stages it is very difficult to find time to train. The intensity of the lessons is not at all the same as out of season. It is simply impossible to train so much, so the overall physical condition decreases, but since we are constantly racing, the neck is in good condition.
I like to train in the off-season. I have trained a lot in recent years and am planning a more intensive program this year. I feel like I’m stronger now than ever, and I’m confident that I’ll be even stronger next year.
