Qualification

After qualifying at Silverstone, Carlos Sainz took the first pole of his career in his 150th Grand Prix. Only Sergio Perez drove more races to the first pole position – 216. Carlos became the 104th pole winner in Formula 1 history – and the second Spaniard after Fernando Alonso.

This is Ferrari’s 12th pole position at Silverstone – they are ahead of Williams in this indicator. Now the Scuderia occupies the top four lines in the ranking in terms of the number of poles on different circuits.

Max Verstappen set the second fastest time and lost in rain qualifying for the first time of the season. Max qualified for the 35th time on the front row of the grid, ahead of Rubens Barrichello and René Arnoux in this indicator.

Charles Leclerc qualified third and missed a top two finish in qualifying for the first time this season.

Sergio Perez qualified fourth for the third time this season, his most frequent starting position this year. For the seventh time this season, the first two rows were occupied by Ferrari and Red Bull cars.

Lewis Hamilton qualified fifth and equalized in the qualifying clash with teammate George Russell – now they have 5:5.

Guanyu Zhou qualified ninth, beating fellow Alfa Romeo Valtteri Bottas for the third consecutive Grand Prix. Ninth place is the best result in the career of a Chinese rider.

Daniel Ricciardo was eliminated for the third time in the last four races in the second part of qualifying.

Sebastian Vettel’s 18th and Lance Stroll’s 20th is the worst result for both Aston Martin drivers this season.

By winning the British Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz achieved the first victory of his career. The Spaniard won in his 150th Grand Prix and finished second in this indicator. On the first – Sergio Perez, who won only the 190th race.

Sainz became the second Spaniard after Fernando Alonso to win a Grand Prix. In terms of number of wins (33) Spain shares tenth place with the Americans in the general classification.

Sainz gave Ferrari its 15th victory at Silverstone, on the circuit where the Scuderia took its first victory in 1951 with José-Froilan González.

Sergio Pérez finished second for the fourth time of the season, the 21st time in his career and the first time at Silverstone, taking the podium. Sergio’s result was the best for Red Bull in this race – the team’s run of six wins in a row was interrupted.

Lewis Hamilton finished third for his 185th career podium and 13th at Silverstone. This is a new record, before no one has risen on the podium 13 times on the same track. Michael Schumacher had 12 podiums in Imola, Barcelona and Montreal.

At Silverstone, Hamilton led the race for the first time this year and set the best lap for the 60th time in his career. For the 16th year in a row, Hamilton was in the lead over at least one stage – this is a new all-time record.

In his 90th Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc finished fourth and failed to reach the podium for the fifth race in a row. The race at Silverstone was the Monegask’s 20th career in which he led.

Fernando Alonso finished fifth and achieved the best result of the season. If the Spaniard only earned points in the first five Grand Prix this season (2 points), he always finished in the top ten (26 points) in the last five.

Fernando Alonso took the lead and set a new Grand Prix distance record for Kimi Raikkonen with 92.596 kilometers.

Mick Schumacher finished eighth, earning points for the first time in his Formula 1 career – in his 31st race. Alessandro Nannini (32), George Russell (37), Jonathan Palmer (42) and Nicola Larini (44) waited longer than him for the first points.

Twelfth place was Nicholas Latifi’s best result this season.
