Alex Albon believes that his second season at Williams is going well, which is partly due to the fact that he already has more experience with the team.
Alex Albon: “I think the year is going quite well for me. I feel like I was able to perform well when we had these opportunities, even though it’s never easy to achieve that. Moreover, this is my second season at Williams and I already have a lot more experience in dealing with the team, a lot more knowledge.
Our car hasn’t changed much compared to last year, but I’ve already mastered it well, so from the very beginning of the first Friday practice I can get straight to work on the track. So all is well in this regard.
But it must be emphasized that everything is connected. The car is still better than last season and I feel more confident behind the wheel of the FW45 because its behavior has become more predictable. Thanks to all this, it is always easier for the racer to solve the problems he faces.
The team and drivers need to communicate effectively, which explains why Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are racing so well in the second half of the championship. Of course, they are good drivers, but in the first six races they were no worse, but McLaren managed to effectively modernize the car.
I think we also have the opportunity to earn points this weekend, both in the sprint and in the race on Sunday, although that will obviously not be easy. The sprint always adds an element of unpredictability, but if, as in Mexico, we manage to get close to the car from the very start of Friday practice, then we can make fairly quick progress on this basis.
Let’s hope we can do it, because qualifying follows immediately after practice, but it is worth noting that the Brazilian circuit is in theory not the best approach for our car. I think the FW45 can handle the first and third sectors of the circle well, but unfortunately in the second it can be a little worse. Anyway, we’ll see…”
