The Alpine team sits sixth in the Constructors’ Championship and it is unlikely that any of the chasers will be able to overtake them in the remaining three rounds of the season. However, team driver Esteban Ocon said on the eve of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix how important it is to earn points in both the sprint and Sunday’s race.
Esteban Ocon: “First of all I want to say that I am happy to return to Brazil. I have a lot of support here and the old school circuit is fantastic. We all enjoy playing here and the team achieved good results in Brazil last year. I hope that we will act effectively this weekend and achieve results.
I’m happy with my performance and the way I’m riding this year. Of course, luck was not always on my side – I had many failures that cost the team dearly. But in such a situation it is important to keep attacking and enjoy the good results, of which there were many.
Who will be our main rival on this circuit? Our goal is to get into the top ten. We need points, so I hope we can earn them in both the sprint and the main race. If we succeed, the weekend can be considered a success.”
