Charles Leclerc: Our speed is influenced by the characteristics of the track

Charles Leclerc started the previous two races from pole position, but Max Verstappen won both times. In Brazil, the Ferrari driver honestly admitted that the speed of the car does not currently allow him to fight for first place over a long distance.

Charles Leclerc: “It’s always nice to start from pole position, but for me the results on Sunday are the most important. At the moment we don’t have a car at our disposal that will allow us to convert starts from pole position into victories. We must continue to work on solving this problem – and that is what we are focused on now.

We still have a lot to do, but it will be great if I start from pole this weekend. The chances of this are still greater than winning Sunday’s race.

I don’t know if the fact that we will have harder tires this weekend will help us. Our competitive position is not so much influenced by tires as by the characteristics of a particular circuit.

It is very difficult to say how the events will develop this weekend given the sprint format. The first training is very important, and if we choose the wrong direction when working with the settings on Friday, we will not be able to correct it for the remaining days of the weekend. It is very important to have a strong training and hopefully the weekend will be positive for us.”
