Romain Grosjean remains in IndyCar, but changes teams

Romain Grosjean will continue to compete in the American IndyCar Series in 2024, but will switch teams again: he has now signed a contract with Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR) and will drive the No. 77 Chevrolet engine next season.

This will be Grosjean’s fourth season in IndyCar, and in the previous one, which ended in September, he took 13th place in the individual championship, after which there was a somewhat scandalous parting with Andretti Autosport. Roman even stated that he was suing the team.

There is no news yet on this subject, but JHR shared another news together with Grosjean: in 2024 he will be the new partner of the Argentinian Agustin Canapino, a recent IndyCar debutant.

“Over the past few seasons, I have closely followed JHR’s progress,” Roman said. “The team is showing significant growth and I look forward to sharing my experience with them so that we can move into the 2024 season with confidence.”

On the not so great relationship with Michael Andretti and his team, Grosjean commented: “I did my best to avoid aggravation, but I think time will tell (who was right). I understand that there is a lot of talk about it now.

But it seems to me that the atmosphere in the JHR team can be different, and so far the communication with the owners gives me pleasure. I was fortunate to spend a lot of time with them during the Formula 1 race weekend at Austin Motor Speedway, which was great. I believe we are all aware of how the situation may develop.”

Grosjean’s last sentence clearly hints at the possible legal prospects of his dispute with Andretti.

The new IndyCar season starts on March 10, 2024 with a traditional race in Florida, the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
