In qualifying on the Brazilian circuit, Charles Leclerc showed the second fastest time, after which he admitted that this was a pleasant surprise for him. And overall, according to the Ferrari driver, he has never seen such a qualifying final in his entire career.
Charles Leclerc: “So far everything is going well for us! I’ve never experienced anything like this in my entire career. From Turn 4 and the rest of the lap there was no rain, but it was extremely difficult to drive. There was no connection at all.
I was already thinking about returning to the pits at the end of the lap, but when I was finally done with it, I showed it a second time. In short: this is a very pleasant surprise! But the situation on the track was very strange and everyone felt it. In any case, I’m glad I showed the second result.
During qualifying it is always difficult to make the right decisions, choose the moments when you go on track, etc., but today we did everything as it should be.
I can’t say anything about the race yet. We’ll see, but when there is a sprint in the weekend programme, it is always difficult to predict what our race pace will be. I hope he is doing well and I hope it doesn’t rain too much tomorrow and Sunday.”
