Izola: Questions remain about Las Vegas

In two weeks, Formula 1 will arrive in Las Vegas, where it will be autumn-like cold. Pirelli opted for the softest compounds, but Mario Isola admits it won’t be easy for everyone.

Mario Isola: “The Las Vegas Grand Prix will be a step into the unknown for everyone. This is a city highway and it will be cold there.

We asked the teams in advance to work on simulators to understand how severe the stress on the tires would be. We have information about adhesion and abrasiveness from asphalt manufacturers, but many questions remain.

We will bring the three softest compounds to the stage to try to improve grip. I can imagine a significant evolution of the asphalt as the weekend progresses and very low grip. Everyone will complain about this. It really is a step into the unknown: a fast circuit, long straights and conditions that are quite difficult to deal with.”
