Steiner: If there are rules, they must be respected

We wrote that Haas F1 wants to protest the results of the US Grand Prix and said that not all drivers have been fined for violating the circuit’s boundaries.

The case will be heard tomorrow, with the stage stewards discussing the new evidence from Haas F1 via video link. Representatives from Williams, Aston Martin and Red Bull, whose drivers finished ahead of Haas F1, have been invited to this meeting.

Guenther Steiner, head of Haas F1, which occupies last place in the constructors’ championship, assures that he is simply trying to achieve justice.

Gunther Steiner: “There are rules. If stewards don’t have information, they can’t take action, but now they have the information. Let’s see what the FIA does when they receive it. I think they will have to take action, otherwise it will turn out that the rules do not work.

We want to ask this question and get an answer, otherwise the regulations will have to be rewritten. To be honest, I don’t like track limits and penalties myself. But if there are rules, they must be respected, these are the principles of sport.

The point is not that possible penalties from opponents will affect the position of our team. You just have to always follow the rules. If it is written that for four violations of the track limits you will receive a five-second penalty, as for each subsequent violation, that is how it should be. This has always been the case. We don’t invent anything new. We will present our evidence. Let’s see what the decision will be.”
