Memorial Mass for Sir Frank Held in London

Many famous people from the world of Formula 1 and motorsport in general attended a memorial service on Monday for the late Frank Williams who passed away last November.

The service was held in London at Westminster Cathedral the day after the British Grand Prix and was attended by approximately 600 people, including representatives of several generations of riders who played for the Williams team, in particular Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, Nick Heidfeld and Valtteri Bottas.

Also in attendance were Martin Brundle, Mika Häkkinen, Jonathan Palmer and former and current Formula 1 team principal Ron Dennis, Eddie Jordan, David Richards, Christian Horner, Andreas Seidl, Otmar Szafnauer and Jost Capito.

The representative Williams delegation was led by Patrick Head, a longtime Sir Frank associate and former technical director of the team, who did not fail to recall that “Frank could not bear the praise of his merits.”

Mass was followed by a reception at the Royal Automobile Club, where the historic FW07 car, in which Clay Regazzoni won the 1979 British Grand Prix, was Williams’ first win.

After all these events, former Formula 1 driver and now popular TV commentator Martin Brundle wrote on his pages on social networks: “We paid tribute to the memory of the great Sir Frank Williams. It was very heartfelt, but I wish we could have pay tribute to Sir Stirling Moss and Murray Walker, whom we lost during the pandemic.”
