Formula 2 season leader Theo Pourcher took part in the first practice of the Mexico City Grand Prix, but only completed four laps due to technical problems with the car. Sauber director Alessandro Aluni Bravi said the French driver will still get behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car this year – during the first practice session in Abu Dhabi and during the rookie tests on November 28.
Alessandro Alunni Bravi: “He had been waiting all year for the chance to get behind the wheel, but in Mexico City problems with the car prevented him from completing a single fast lap. But at the same time he remained calm and gave clear feedback to the team. So even this experience did him good. Theo showed that he is already a mature racer.
He will get behind the wheel again during the first practice session for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. He will also participate in beginner tests.
Buyer deserved to be part of our team. And although we have already confirmed the 2024 line-up, we are looking for the best possible racing program for him to keep him fit. Theo is one of our riders. Next year we will not have two main riders and one reserve rider, but three riders.”
